One allegation and you can kiss your career goodbye.
False allegations are the reason that any male would avoid primary teaching like the plague.
One allegation of " inappropriate" behaviour, no matter how unfounded, and you can kiss your career goodbye ( and probably everything else if you are in a small town).
Indeed, even break up a playground fight or restrain an out-of-control child and at best you will be reported for misconduct to an external body and have months of stress.

You can find yourself destitute if a false allegation is made concerning you.
A male teacher friend of mine was without pay for 9 months as a result of an historic allegation - some 20 years prior.
The woman had a mental illness and attributed it to some event she could not remember.
He was the only male teacher in her school life, so it " must" have been him.
In the end the case was withdrawn on the day of the first proceedings.
It never had a chance to go ahead but in the process his life was in turmoil.
He ended up working as a road worker, and was paid more money (with shorter holidays but no marking!)
It is not terror of a false allegation, it is the destitution that often results.
