Wednesday 23 February 2011: Tracy's Toyota is found abandoned.

On Wednesday

February 23 2011, at about 4.00pm, Tracy's vehicle, a white 1998 Toyota Corolla station sedan, register number 075 WFC, was found abandoned 45kms south of Karratha on Millstream Road.

Tracy was believed to have abandoned her car and gone bush just before Cyclone Carlos menaced the town.

(But her father Quinton Bricknell later said tests showed the car engine had seized.)

A police helicopter has joined the search for a second day, along with SES volunteers and police officers on the ground.

Karratha Sgt Alby Van Den Berg said the search area had been expanded and staff from the Perth emergency operations unit were in Karratha today to review the operation.

He said concerns were held for Ms Marshall, but there was “ample fresh water” after recent torrential rains and localised flooding.

“With the area being mostly Spinifex and not a great deal else, it does allow us to search a huge area by air very thoroughly and quickly

We’ve actually managed to eliminate a lot of it already.
